IAEP Local R7-664 Lapeer County EMS of Lapeer, MI hosted their annual golf memorial fundraiser last weekend in honor of Katelyn Furneaux, a fellow LCEMS EMT and Local 664 member who died tragically in an automobile accident in 2022.

Local 664 members, friends and family came to Lapeer Country Club on Saturday to take part in the golf outing, which was sponsored by the IAEP. Each participant paid an entry fee that was donated to Lapeer EMS in Furneaux's memory.

IAEP National Representative Nate Smith, who attended the fundraiser along with his family, reported that the local raised over $4,700 with this year's donations. This money is anticipated to go towards educational opportunities within Lapeer County EMS.

Congratulations to Local 664 for this incredible fundraising accomplishment and successful event, and may Katelyn's memory continue to be a blessing.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
