The IAEP is rallying around two members of Local 799 M Health Fairview EMS who are working through devastating separate circumstances.
M Health Fairview EMS professional Alexis Pierce, age 25, was diagnosed with aggressive, widespread cancer in late January. Alexis is currently pursuing chemotherapy and surgery options and is in the midst of her fight while undergoing tests, procedures, and consultations.
“Alexis is strong, compassionate, and deeply loved,” wrote her paramedic partner and best friend Cory Pepper on her GoFundme page. “She has spent her life caring for others, and now she needs a community to rally around her.”
Alexis’s GoFundMe donations will help cover travel to appointments and treatment centers, living expenses while she is unable to work and general support through her fight and recovery.
The physical and emotional toll of this diagnosis is immense— and the financial burden adds another layer of stress no one should have to carry during a battle like this. We encourage all who are willing and able to support Alexis in her road to recovery.
M Health Fairview EMT Rob Madsen suffered a traumatic brain injury and open skull fracture while on duty, a life-altering injury that has taken him away from the work he loves and placed him on a long, difficult road to recovery.
Right now, Rob is unable to work and is focusing entirely on healing.
“Rob has spent his career caring for strangers with compassion, skill, and steady calm,” wrote his GoFundMe organizer Melissa Domino. “He’s the kind of partner you trust on every call— reliable, selfless, and always ready to help. Seeing someone so strong face something so devastating has been heartbreaking for all of us who know him.”
Rob’s GoFundMe donations will help cover the financial strain of medical appointments, time away from work, and everyday living expenses. This will help ease some burdens so he can recover without the added stress of wondering how he’ll keep up with bills.
“These are both honest folks who have had the world land on their shoulders at a very unfortunate time,” said Local 799 President Kyle Hasse.
We send our deepest sympathies to Alexis and Rob and their families, and we wish them both a speedy recovery and a world of support. Please consider donating to their GoFundMe’s below:
