"When the helpers ‘feel helpless’: First responders get a boost in mental health support;" IAEP Leader featured in EMS Mental Health Article

“You’re going to see something horrible, and the expectation is, ‘Yeah, that’s what we do — you just got to deal with it,’” said Alanna Badgley, the EMS external affairs coordinator for the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics (IAEP).


Badgley discussed the mental strains that first responders often face on shift, the treatments (or lack thereof) available to them and their impacted colleagues, and what work we can all do to rescue the people who rescue us when they need it in an interview with Stateline earlier this month.
