The IAEP is mourning longtime IAEP Local R7-016 Montcalm County EMS member and Billing Manager Amber Lynn Barnes, who passed away last week at the age of 44.

Barnes worked in Montcalm County EMS for several years, helping to support the first responders and keep the agency running smoothly. She is remembered for being a fierce protector, loyal caretaker, and beacon of hope in the face of tragedy.

Barnes' friends and family– and the EMS community as a whole– fondly recall her contagious smile, prankster antics, and dedicated love for her family, friends, pets and motorcycle.

She is survived by her husband, Jason, her parents, Beverly and Dan, and siblings, Autumn, Marcie and Travis, as well as her nieces, nephews, and grandmother.

Our thoughts remain with those who knew and loved Barnes during this incredibly difficult time.

The Barnes family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to the Montcalm County Animal Shelter.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
