IAEP Local 664 Lapeer County EMS in Michigan participated in the Shop with a Hero program, an annual charity event where first responders take children in need on a shopping trip to buy gifts for them and their families.

EMS professionals of Local 664 were paired with the children who they then accompanied around the participating Lapeer County stores on Tuesday to take part in the event, which Lapeer County EMS has helped out with for more than 20 years.

These EMTs and paramedics expressed their gratitude to be able to make connections with their communities and provide joy to these local families. We are proud that, no matter how naughty or nice Local 664 has been all year, they are truly embracing the holiday spirit with their generosity, mentorship and kindness!

Photos of the event can be seen below.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
