IAEP R7-664 Lapeer County EMS in Michigan held their annual Cancer Awareness fundraiser last month.

The local sold shirts to the public and staff for the charitable effort. Staff were permitted to wear the shirts during the month of October to bring awareness to the Lapeer County communities.

Each year, all proceeds from the fundraiser are given to a recipient from Lapeer County who is battling breast cancer. This year, Local 664 donated $900 to Lisa Keeth, who is entering her final week of chemo this week.

Nice job to the Local 664 members and Lapeer County community!

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
