The members of IAEP Local R7-107 at Mille Lacs Health System in Minnesota have received a statewide award for their clinical excellence.

The Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) awarded the Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS) Ambulance Department the Certificate of Excellence for outstanding clinical care and documentation. The recognition was awarded on the department’s high performance in critical areas of emergency care, including stroke, STEMI (heart attacks), trauma, and pediatric care.

This award highlights the quality and professionalism of IAEP-represented EMTs and paramedics who serve the Mille Lacs region. Their commitment to patient-centered care and clinical precision has helped MLHS meet and exceed an 80% performance rate in at least five key emergency metrics tracked statewide by OEMS under the Clinical Advisory Performance Measures program.

The award reflects the team collaboration between frontline EMS professionals and partners in the Emergency Department, Stroke and Trauma Committees, and hospital leadership. It’s a team effort- but it starts in the field, where IAEP members make critical decisions that save lives every single day.

IAEP is proud to represent these exceptional providers and to celebrate the important role they play each day- delivering top-tier emergency medical services. Recognition like this not only validates their hard work, but it also reinforces the importance of strong union representation in advocating for the highest standards in EMS.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
