After 40 years of service, IAEP Local 370 member Mike McRann will officially retire from his EMT duties on March 7th. From his first shift in 1985 to his current role at Care/FALCK, Mike has consistently shown tremendous dedication to his work and the communities he’s served.

Mike's career as an EMT began on March 8, 1985, when he joined Medevac, serving there until 1992. From there, he moved to Crippen/MedTrans/AMR in October of 1992, continuing his service until July 7, 2017. Following that, Mike has been with Care/FALCK, where he remains dedicated to positively impacting the lives of those he serves.

Over the past 40 years, Mike has not only demonstrated unwavering dedication as a first responder, but also provided tremendous support to the EMT community. As an active member of Local 370 and a passionate union supporter, Mike has consistently shown up to rallies and offered his full support to fellow colleagues and members. His participation and support in the rallies have left a long-lasting impact on those taking on career paths as EMTs.

When asked about memories during his career, Mike shared that “meeting celebrities and working sporting events” were memorable moments during his years of service. However, the true honor lies in the countless lives he’s touched and the many families that’ve been positively impacted by his 40 years of service.

“Mike’s career is an exemplary model of the selfless dedication that defines the heart of the EMS profession," said IAEP National Director Phil Petit. "The IAEP strives to make stories like Mike’s the norm, not the rarity. His story reminds us that the commitment and dedication of professionals like him are what make our communities safer and stronger.”

“Congratulations, Mike on an outstanding 40 years of EMS service! The IAEP is proud to celebrate your outstanding contributions and wishes you a wonderful retirement!”

Here’s to 40 years of extraordinary service, Mike!

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
