Local 294 enjoys a night out at Organized Labor Night!

Members and staff of the IAEP attended Organized Labor Night at a AA Minor League Baseball game in Hartford, Connecticut this weekend.

IAEP National Director Phil Petit, IAEP Lead Counsel Doug Hall, and several representatives from IAEP Local 294 Hunters Ambulance of Meriden, Connecticut along with their friends and family attended the game between the Hartford Yard Goats and the Portland Sea Dogs. The night was sponsored by the Yard Goats, Helmets to Hardhats— a nonprofit dedicated to connecting veterans to union trades jobs— and dozens of other local unions, including the IAEP.

The annual Organized Labor Night was especially significant for the IAEP this year, as the IAEP took the opportunity to honor Yard Goats fan and IAEP National Representative Pete Zera, who passed away last December. Zera was a great advocate of the event and longtime member of IAEP Local 294 before his passing.

IAEP members who attended the event had a great night celebrating labor and Pete's memory. Photos can be seen below!

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
