The IAEP proudly celebrates our 911 telecommunicators in honor of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. During this week and throughout the entire year, we applaud the hard work and dedication of these crucial EMS providers.

“911 telecommunicators are the first people to answer the call during our times of need,” said IAEP National Director Philip Petit.  “Our entire emergency system counts on these first responders to answer the call, help direct safe and timely response, and to remain on the line to be a voice of calming as EMS professionals arrive on scene.  The IAEP honors their work and we’re proud to represent telecommunicators all around the USA.”

Among the celebrations for 911 telecommunicators across the country this past week, the IAEP is also stepping up to fight for their rights as first responders. In Connecticut, the IAEP has been pushing for the passage of a bill that would help define these critical professionals as first responders in the state.

The hope is that the passage of this bill would build momentum on getting this designation secured for public safety telecommunicators nationwide.

Now and always, we stand with these employees and laud their invaluable role in providing emergency medical services to communities across the nation.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
