IAEP Local 95, representing the over 100 EMS professionals of UMass Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC), have reached an agreement in principle with the hospital last week that addresses all of the union’s concerns about staffing and patient care.
The hospital agreed on Wednesday to prioritize staffing to the 9-1-1 department, which was a chief concern raised by the union earlier that week.
As a result of this landmark agreement, Local 95 rescinds its notice to cease all work being performed at the North Pavilion Facility (NPAV) and remains dedicated to providing the excellent emergency care that the city of Worcester deserves.
The union is working with UMMMC to make sure the NPAV is properly staffed and every patient in Worcester is treated efficiently and adequately.
“This is a great victory for the first responders of Local 95 who provide their lifesaving services, for all the patients who entrust these professionals to keep them safe, healthy and comfortable at UMMMC, and for the hospital itself,” said IAEP National Director Phil Petit. “Our hope is to keep working with the hospital to continue making decisions that benefit all of these parties.”
