About the NAGE Charitable Foundation

The NAGE Charitable Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in February 2004 after a group of members met with National President David Holway to discuss ways the union could further serve our communities through charitable works.

"We are compelled by our mission statement to take a leadership role in creating a more  just and humane society," said Holway. "It is in the spirit of giving back that we are now reaching beyond our everyday jobs to help children and families in need. In this way, our union is doing more than just 'talking the talk,' we're 'walking the walk' and helping people in the process."

Donations to operate the foundation come from member and local contributions, National Executive Board member contributions, NAGE staff payroll deductions, and numerous fundraisers held throughout the year.

Through these generous donations, the NAGE Charitable Foundation has contributed to dozens of organizations, including:

• Give Kids a Fighting Chance
• Special Olympics
• Pan Mass Challenge
• SIDS Race for Life
• Golf Fights Cancer
• Walk to Cure Cancer
• Victims of Katrina Fund
• Forrest Memorial
• St. Jude Children's Hospital
• Home for Little Wanderers
• Susan B. Komen Foundation
• Brain Tumor Research Fund
• Atlanta Community Food Bank
• Doctors Without Borders
• Women of Means
• Lupus Foundation
• American Cancer Society
• Shriners Hospital for Children

The foundation’s most significant commitment is major support of the annual UMass Memorial Cancer Center’s Walk to Cure Cancer. We have had hundreds of members and NAGE staff participate in fundraising and the walk itself.

NAGE charities also raised money to help NAGE members in Louisiana and Mississippi who were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The foundation distributed close to $50,000 to 95 members on the Gulf Coast. The members and families we were able to help report that they were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of their brothers and sisters in NAGE.

Our foundation has been able to make an impact on the lives of our members, their families, and our communities.

Please join us in fulfilling our commitment to serve our communities throughout the country. Any contribution you are able to make can go a long way toward helping a brother or sister in need.
