The IAEP welcomes our newest local and congratulates the approximately 105 EMS professionals with Rural/Metro in Tacoma, Washington.
With a strong turnout, these men and women sent a clear message that they wanted IAEP representation by overwhelmingly voting in favor of the union. Workers voiced concerns over wages, benefits and the overall current working conditions.
"Thanks to everyone who helped bring an end to management's unsuccessful open door policy," said Don Chapman, an EMS professional with Rural/Metro. "Now that we have closed that door, we can proudly open a new one and make Rural/Metro in Tacoma a great place to work once again."
Because of the continued hard work of local leaders throughout the campaign, contract surveys have already been distributed to these members and local executive board elections will soon take place.
"This victory is a testament to the hard work of the local leaders," said IAEP National Representative Greg Behan. "They continued to spread the union message and helped mobilize their fellow EMS professionals during the entire campaign."
Congratulations to these new members on becoming the latest edition to the growing IAEP family!
