IAEP National Director Matthew Levy and members of Local R5-247, EMS professionals of Sunstar EMS of Pinellas County, Florida, recently took part in a video shoot for an upcoming portion of the National Medical Report.
The video shoot, which took place at Sunstar’s headquarters in Largo, Florida, focuses specifically on the EMS profession and how it has grown and evolved over the years. Local 247 Treasurer Michael Keesler provided the program with first hand knowledge of the EMS profession and helped explain many of the hardships he faces every day.
“This piece is aimed at educating the public about the EMS profession as a whole,” said Levy. “By educating the public we are striving to gain the respect that we deserve as professionals.”
Levy was also joined by Director of Northeastern University’s Paramedic Program Dana Sampson and EMS dispatcher and attorney Michael Kass. Each provided insight into the educational and legal aspects of the EMS field respectively.
While no air date has been set, this piece will run later this year on both PBS and CNN as a part of Hugh Down’s National Medical Report. The IAEP will continue to take every opportunity to further educate the public about the EMS profession as a whole, and what we, as professionals, face in our workplace.
