EMTs and Paramedics in Germantown, WI Ratify First Contract

The members of Local R7-052, EMTs and paramedics working for the Village of Germantown, WI, recently ratified their first contract.

IAEP National Representative Christian Cloen and the Local R7-052 negotiating team worked with town management to create a contract that was fair for both sides. During negotiations, both the town and the union worked together to assure that the Local R7-052 membership would receive the wages they deserve throughout the future, amounting in a large percentage raise over the three-year life of the contract.

“I think we made great strides while negotiating this contract. The town officers were a great group to work with, and I truly believe we will have a positive relationship throughout the future,” said Local R7-052 President Cindy Yatchak.

Improvements to the disciplinary system including a grievance and arbitration process as well as the implementation of a time-card system are also in the contract. The Local R7-052 negotiating team also negotiated a new form of insurance that will help cover members injured while on-duty.

“This contract covers a lot of ground and gives our members the protections that they so desperately needed,” said Cloen. “Not only does this contract guarantee our members the wages they deserve, but it also establishes a fair disciplinary process for everyone in the local.”
